We danced together
She brought with her lightness, energy, ideas; sprouting and alive. I saw myself in the blossoms and leaves as we emerged together innately in perfect symbiosis. I felt like a butterfly on its first day of being so, reborn with utter vibrancy and colour. Inspired. Weightless.
I put my paintbrush down, one morning, got up to dance. Small movements to the gentle song. I was pulled to my feet by some strong unseen force, told me I must move. It was spring. We danced together in the kitchen, she and I, all her hope and relief and joy for being alive washing over me, moving me.
I have now completed a year in England. It was something I had wanted to do, wanted to live through the seasons here and remember what that was like, to really tune in. Bar the odd week here and there (I have a nomadic soul and need for sunshine, I allowed myself some respite), I have seen and felt it all.
And now it is spring and I have thrown myself into new creative projects that just bubbled up inside me as soon as the leaves started to push through. It’s felt so good to move with the energy and to see what the winter hibernation was making room for.
My most recent project which is now available is my new colouring book ~ The Tarn Ellis Art Colouring Book, so called because the pages are of my most loved artworks. It includes 30 different designs on thick paper which makes them really special to colour. The wiro binding also means the book lays completely flat or can be folded in half which makes it easier to use. You can find it here.
I have been also been immersed in the world of watercolour. It is a medium I have always loved and have come back to time and again. The fluidity and flow of the paint is such a lesson in relinquishing control. It really has its own mind and spirit and can only be gently coaxed with softness and understanding. I have got to know it better over the past year and feel as though I have a lifetime of learning ahead of me. That suits me just fine. The butterflies below are from another project I have been working on, and the Blue Woman is available as an original, along with other watercolour originals.
A gentle reminder that I have lessons and classes on patreon if you are interested in learning digital art, running a business, making successful art and much more. The whole library of videos (over 100!) will be available to you on the highest tier, which you can access and watch at any time. Membership is half price if you sign up for a full year. You can find out more and join here.
For now then, I will step back out into the sunshine, barefoot in the daisy’s.
Have a wonderful spring (or autumn for the southern hemisphere folk) and remember to soak it all in.
Tarn xx
